Festive Fun The December medal played on Christmas eve was the first event to be played over the holiday period and young Craig Mc Donald was the best of the bunch with a net 60 which was good enough to win the sweep and the second class medal and earn himself a nice wee cut which his brother thought was not enough so persuaded the match secretary to use rule 19 giving Craig a new handicap of 15 nice one Iain. The first class went to Mark Crichton with a net 63 now it just doesn’t seem fair not to do the same for Mark! The class of the field was once again Donald Standaloft with a level par 68 in not the easiest of conditions winning Donald the scratch medal there was only one magic two Bobby Peddar was the one to benefit and on to Boxing day and the annual greensome competition and that man Craig Mc Donald was able to carry his father to a fine net 62 to pip Donald Standaloft and Jim O Donnell by only one shot Jim being sighted on the Port this season only once less than the lesser spotted tree hugger frog but its still ! there Jim. The annual Captains –Vice Captains match was played on the second of January and saw two teams of ten play out the match but the outcome has been kept a bit of a secret as no-one told the match secretary the result as he wasn’t there due to a previous engagement with a bottle of grouse. This Sunday the January medal and round three of the winter trophy will take place with places on the Mail on Sunday team up for grabs so stake your claim as there is a lot of interest The rearranged fixtures for the remainder of the winter season are as follows January 14th ..January Medal and Winter Trophy (3) January 21st ..Port Inn Winter League (8) January 28th ..Port Inn Winter League (9) February 4th ..Port Inn Winter League (10) February 11th Port Inn Winter League (11) February 18th Port Inn Winter League ( if required) February 25th February Medal and Winter Trophy (4) March 4th Port Inn Winter League ( Quarter Finals) March 11th Port Inn Winter League ( Semi Finals) March 18th March Medal And Winter Trophy (5) March 25th Port Inn Winter League (Finals Day and Presentation) The date for the A.G.M. has been set for the 28th of February at 7.30pm Members please note that all items of clothing , shoes, clubs etc. will be removed from the locker room to the trolley shed so take note! Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomesPort Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome. Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years. |
