Tough at the top The top of league A & B has now tightened right up with two tied for top spot in both leagues and a plethora of teams snapping at their heels for a top four spot to progress into the knock-out section John Preston and sub Bobby Peddar went down 5&3 to Jamie Jardine and Andy Durrant to put themselves back in the shake down Mark Crichton & David Reid beat Davy Driver & Taff Barnsley 1 up down the last with tales of lost balls on the 17th Colin Renfrew & Gordon Peacock allowed Bob Sutherland and Gordon Hillis to have the best come back since Napoleon sailed a single masted flat-bottom out of Elba the former being 4 up with 4 to play and managing a glorious draw John Marshall & Graham Fisher well! mainly John beat Robert Jardine & Cameron Keane 5 &4 with a fine display of iron play and a little local knowledge i.e. where the open drains on the greens are..Jimmy Dunn & Brother Graham lost out to Ian Mc Murchie & David Whitelaw 1 up and also the coupon by only one result now that’s unlucky, Jim Muldoon & Steve Officer Beat Donald Standaloft & Francoise Lintermans by the same margin 1 up Jimmy Gordon and sub Harry Slaven Beat one of the unbeaten team in the form of Jack Patterson and Andy Williamson 1up and this puts Ted & Jimmy right back in there Davy Bodys and Tommy Howat also had a big result beating Steve Howrie and Pete Manvell 3&2 which bolsters their challenge John Hebditch and Robert mcArthur were back together after John had been out through illness good to see you back John however they lost to the Whitelaw machine as Hector & Hector are back joint top of section A and looking nearly safe with Joint top of section B Ian Shaw & Mike Manvell as they saw off Jim Bicker and Iain Mc Donald 4 & 3 Iain obviously still jet lagged from his travels to Millport. Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomesPort Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome. Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years. |
