The End is Nigh! Port Inn Winter League Beattie & Jardine lost their first game of the Port Inn Winter league season and thereby failed to qualify for the final. In a close contest they were defeated on the last green by the new pairing this season of Black and Pedder. They will meet Standaloft and Lintermans in the final. What a turn around for this pair, contesting the top places this season instead of the wooden spoon as per last season. These two defeated Macleod and Preston by the huge margin of 8&7 with Preston's groin injury undoubtedly a factor. With Queen and Mcdermid deciding to withdraw from the league at a very late stage it meant that the bottom end of the table became a battle of three pairings playing a greensome with the highest two net scores going into the wooden spoon game. This became a real tense affair but in the end Bicker & Cassidy scored a 64 with Dunn and Whitelaw one shot higher on 65. The latter pairing will go head to head with Hillis & Sutherland who scored a 73. (Anyone wishing a game on Winter Finals day please contact J. Bicker to make up the numbers). Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomesPort Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome. Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years. |
