Finals Day

The Port Inn Winter League

Rain delays, flooded greens but, with the cooperation of the players plus the volunteers willing to squeegee the greens, the final was played with Standaloft and Lintermans convincing 4&3 winners over Pedder & Black. The horrendous conditions did not affect the standard of golf with Standaloft in particular playing some sparkiling stuff. Despite going 2 down after 2, Standaloft and Lintermans were 1 up after 6 but the a Pedder 4 net 3 drew his pair back level at the 7th. However a Standaloft run of 3, 2, 3, 3, 3 ensured a comfortable 5 up with only 6 to play and it was virtually all over and Lintermans and himself were Winter League Champions. In the 3rd and fourth play off, I.L. Macleod, playing on his own due to the injury to his partner, held off Beattie & Jardine until the 17th green. Sadly, all other games were the victims of the weather despite everyone’s best efforts to get out there and give it a go.

Mail on Sunday Team

After a bye in the first round our team was drawn at home to Ranfurly Castle and a convincing four and a half to a half win takes us into the third round, again at home, to Kirkintilloch G.C. D. Standaloft, I.L. Macleod, T. McDonald and J. Black were all winners while G. Dunn managed a half.

Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomes

Port Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome.

Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years.
