October - So Far! by Webmaster @ 17:16 GMT

Two competitions played in October so far and two CSS scores of 64 indicate good golfing conditions and a course that has held up to the rains and squalls of September.
First on the CSS 64 list was the October Medal with Bobby Pedder carding the best score of the day, only by virtue of the better inward half though over I.L. Macleod, with a net 65 which was good enough to grab the second class medal. Mark Crighton made it a double up when he won both the scratch and first class medal with scores of 74 and 66 respectively.
Hector Whitelaw took full advantage of the very mild conditions when he carded a net 61 in the first round of the Winter Trophy but he was not the only one. Ted mcDonald showed a good return to form with a net 63. A two at the 18th improved Hector's financial status but had to share the rollover two kitty with Andy Williamson who seems to be making a habit of a two at the 18th in recent competitions.

Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomes

Port Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome.

Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years.
