Mixed Fortunes For Leaders by Webmaster @ 12:35 GMT

Long term leaders in both leagues had mixed fortunes in the penultimate qualifying games for this year's Winter League sponsored by Rothesay Motor Services. In League A Reid & Manvell halved their match which gaurantees them qualification for the knockout stages. In League B Bicker & Marshall suffered their second defeat in two weeks and slip to third place and, having completed all their qualifying games, will now struggle to qualify being stuck on 17 points. In League A, Williamson & Paterson have all but qualified along with Black & Pedder. It looks to be a battle between Crichton & Lintermans and McDonald & Slaven for take fourth spot in that League but other pairing will have a say in the final outcome. League B on the other hand is wide open. Dunn & Standaloft or Durrant & Jardine look favourites to take top spots but the other 2 places are totally up for grabs. Bicker & Marshall have to hope that other pairings do them a favour but have fingers and toes firmly crossed.
Results from Sunday were:
League A: Reid & Manvell halved with Driver & Barnsley: Williamson & Paterson halved with Whitelaw & Whitelaw: McDonald & Slaven bt Ware & Melville (Cormack) 3&2: Greer & Greer bt Crichton & Lintermans 4&3:

Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomes

Port Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome.

Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years.
