May 2009Tuesday, May 26, 2009Hector Scott Won by Graham Dunn by Webmaster @ 12:24 GMT Graham Dunn won the Hector Scott by one shot over family rival Graham Fisher. Both had outstanding second rounds to go with their 67's of the previous day. In Graham Fisher's case he shot a gross 68 less 7 for a net 61. However, the other Graham shot a gross 66 less 6 for his net 60 giving him a total of 137 with the other Graham on 138. Graham Dunn's Sunday round had no less than seven 3's plus a 2 and being the only 2 of the whole week-end with 2 good fields of competitors - well - 'nuff said! Saturday was obviously the more difficult scoring day with the best rounds coming from the two Grahans and Robert Turnbull - all on 67. The CSS for this round was 66. On Sunday however the conditions were obviously more suited for scoring with the CSS at 65. Apart from the two Grahams' fantastic rounds the other round of the day was that of Ian Shaw who scored a gross 67 less 7 for his net 60. Unfortunately for him Graham Dunn's net! 60 had the better inward half. Ian's round had eight 3's and it's good to see him running into some form. This Week-End. Friday is the first mixed texas Scramble of the season and members are asked to report at 5.45 for a 6.00 Shotgun Start. News Tuesday, May 19, 2009M & M Trophy by Webmaster @ 12:41 GMT By the time this report goes to print the winner of the 3 round, different courses, M & M Trophy will have been decided. However after round 2 at The Port it was local club player Alex Greer Jnr who was leading the 64 strong entry. His total after 2 rounds was 133 with Jim Ewing of Rothesay in second 2 shots behind. In joint 3rd was Tommy Duncan who was the leader after round 1, and Steven McDonald who were both on 136. Sadly though, none of the leaders were on the prizelist for Round 2. Three net 63's set the pace at the end of the day with The Port's Graham Fisher being the overall winner by virtue of his better inward half over Rothesay's John Duncan, whose 63 included an 8, in second and his club mate Ian Simpson edged out in 3rd. Best scratch score of the day came from Donald Standaloft who played in the worst conditions of the day for his gross 66 with a scintillating total of 31 over the back nine. CSS for the day was 65. Mail on Sunday Classic The Port won through to round 5 of this national competition by virtue of a "walkover". Inverary, having agreed the date well in advance, were unable to raise a team on the day and awarded the Port Club the tie. We await the Round 5 draw. Ceud Mile Failte
A hundred thousand welcomesPort Bannatyne Golf Club is located on the beautiful and historic Isle of Bute, in Scotland. It is an ancient, distinctive, and hospitable golf club where green fees are affordable and visiting golfers are made most welcome. Our gaelic greeting ('Ceud Mile Failte') is symbolic of scenery and atmosphere. Although the island lies in the Clyde Estuary in the south west of Scotland—and is therefore easy to reach—the Higland Boundary Fault runs neatly through the middle of Bute just a few miles south of our course. So the vistas and landscapes that surround you while playing are truly Highland in their characteristics. If you only play here once, we promise you will carry the memories of your day on our course in your heart for many, many years. |
